Reader Reviews
A unique blend of mystery, mysticism, and CSI intrigue presented in a well written, fast-moving format that brings the reader deeper into the intrigue with each turn of the page.
I started to read the book at my wife's insistence which had me thinking that "One Small Life" must be a sequel to "Men are from Mars ..." or at best a "chick" book. The opening section erased these thoughts from my mind and started me on a quick, fast-moving journey with the book's central characters. As the story moves forward, the persona and true values of the main characters unfold as they try to uncover the truth behind a young girl's institutionalization, only to be drawn into a web of danger, deceit, mystery, corruption, and unbridled ambition. In the midst of an abundance of worldly evil, the book provides a parallel, often surreal, path of hope and goodness, driven by the personal values and selflessness of three mental health professionals. Mari, the books central character, is a combination master sculptor and puppet master who controls the tempo of the story, brings out the best in all the characters. and provides the story's mystical focus. With various twists and turns, the book concludes with two surprises - one pleasant, another regrettable. The book was well worth the read. It would be great for a leasurely read but even better on a rainy weekend or a cross country flight where it can be devoured in a short period.

I very much enjoyed reading 'One Small Life' and meeting the characters, especially the quiet, warm soul of Mari. Even in the sad situation she is confronted with, she is able to covey to others a sense of peace and calm and belief that everything will be all right. In the midst of murder and suspicious activities, Mari's friends are even more convinced that a wrong has been done to her and they must help set it right, to the point of placing themselves in danger. I look forward to a sequel so readers can enjoy Mari's future interaction with others and experience the hope and belief she inspires.

"One Small Life" is a captivating story about a mysterious young woman who, though a victim of tragedy and injustice, has the gift of drawing the best out of people even though she doesn't speak. I got so involved with the characters and their harrowing predicaments, that I put aside lots of things I was supposed to be doing to finish the book. Not only a great read, but an inspiring look at the good in human nature that will always stay with me.

I just finished the book "One Small Life" and I have to say it was a great read. As a matter of fact, I couldn't put it down.
It had it all. A great story, full of suspense and unanticipated twists. It's really well written too.
I loved the main character Mari. I became very attached to her as the story progressed. Just when you think thee's no hope for her in this desolate environment, the story takes a very interesting turn. It was one of those books that you don't want to end.
